For traditional hardwired fixtures (porch sconces, floodlights on a switch, anything tied into your home's 120V wiring) yes, in most cases you should use a licensed electrician, and some municipalities require it for new circuits.
Permanent lighting is different: it plugs in
The whole system runs off one waterproof control unit that plugs into a standard exterior outlet and draws about what five ordinary light bulbs do. No panel work, no new circuits, no electrician required. Our own trained crew handles the entire installation, including clean concealed wire runs into the track.
