Do permanent lights damage your roof?
No. When installed correctly, nothing touches your roof at all. This is one of the most common (and most reasonable) worries we hear, so here is exactly how the mounting works.
Where the track actually mounts
Our aluminum track fastens to the fascia board (the vertical trim behind your gutters) or tucks up against the soffit, the horizontal underside of your eaves. Fasteners go into trim lumber, never through shingles, underlayment, or roof decking.
No roof penetration means no leak paths. Your shingle manufacturer's warranty and your roof itself are untouched.
And no holiday-clip damage either. Ironically, the seasonal alternative (gutter clips, staples, and nails for annual strand lights) causes far more wear on gutters and trim over ten years than one clean permanent track install.
