What are the downsides of permanent outdoor lights?
Here is the unvarnished list.
1. Upfront cost. A professional permanent system costs more on day one than a few boxes of store-bought strands. The economics only win over time (see is it worth it?).
2. Daytime visibility depends on install quality. Poorly installed systems (exposed wires, mismatched clips) are visible from the street. This is fixable: color-matched track mounted flush with the fascia is nearly invisible. Look at our daytime photos and judge for yourself.
3. You are marrying the system. If the company disappears, so does your support. Ask any installer who services their warranty and how long they have committed to your market.
4. LED-specific quirks. Very cheap LEDs can flicker, shift color unevenly, or dim early. Quality drivers, sealed connectors, UL rated components, and addressable pixels on a proper control system avoid nearly all of it, but it is why "cheap" and "permanent" do not belong in the same sentence.
5. HOA conversations. Rarely an issue since the system is invisible by day, but if you live under a strict HOA, check the guidelines. We are happy to provide daytime photos and spec sheets for approval.
