How much electricity do permanent outdoor lights use?
Very little. This is one of the quiet superpowers of a modern LED system.
The back-of-napkin math
Each light draws 0.96W. A typical 250-light system running a warm-white evening scene draws roughly what five ordinary light bulbs do. Run it 6 hours a night at local electricity rates and you are talking on the order of a few dollars a month. Full-brightness, all-color party scenes cost more, but you do not run those nightly.
Compare that to old incandescent holiday strands, which could add a very noticeable bump to a December bill. LEDs deliver the same light for roughly a tenth of the energy, and scheduling (sunset-to-midnight instead of dusk-to-dawn) cuts usage nearly in half again.
